SUCCESS WITH SUPIMA: Katya Leonovich to show at Couture Fashion Week

NEW YORK—Katya Leonovich, a finalist in Supima’s 2008 Design Competition will be showing her next collection as part of Couture Fashion Week.

Award-winning designer Katya Leonovich will show her latest collection at Couture Fashion Week at 8 p.m. on Saturday September 11. In her second appearance at the event, the designer will present innovative and cutting edge bridal fashions. The fashion show will be held in the legendary Grand Ballroom of the Waldorf-Astoria on Park Avenue, New York City.
A graduate of the Academy of Fine Arts in her native Moscow, Katya Leonovich also studied and worked in France and Italy. After designing for the prestigious House of Gattinoni, she launched her own label, KATYA LEONOVICH, made in Italy. She is now based in New York City. She is a painter and costume designer as well as a fashion designer. Her artistic skill and talent find form in her edgy fashion designs, embedding traditional fabrics such as gauzes, chiffons and silks with all manner of materials including torn paper, bits of fur, pieces of aluminum, strands of cotton, feathers and fringes. Ms. Leonovich utilizes art to convey a joy for life in her distinctive fashion creations.
Ms. Leonovich was a recent finalist in the Supima Design Contest for Emerging Talent and is a past winner of the Mittelmodal Prize, the Smirnoff International Competition, the Nadejda Lamanova Prize of the Russian Federation, and is listed in the Encyclopedia of Fashion in Russia as a premiere representative of the new generation of Russian fashion. Her work has been featured in publications around the world including Le Figaro, L’Officiel, Collezioni and Book Moda. She has shown on the runway in Rome, Milan, Paris, Moscow and New York, and the L Gallery in New York City recently held a retrospective of her designs.
Couture Fashion Week is a multi-day event showcasing couture and luxury fashion. It also includes exhibits of luxury brands and fine art as well as world-class entertainment and receptions founded in 2005 by producer Andres Aquino. The event is held at the Waldorf-Astoria in New York City and occasionally in other selected cities and is attended by upscale consumers, invited VIPs, the press and high-end store buyers. Couture Fashion Week offers unique branding opportunities for luxury products and services.
