September 2016 Update
By Marc Lewkowitz
On the eve of the 9th edition of the annual Supima Design Competition, six top designers from six top fashion schools in the U.S. are anxiously waiting for the big show. The capsule collections have been diligently crafted and models have been fitted. Now all that is left for them to do is pull off the big event without a hitch. Tomorrow will be a frantic day for the designers as they compress months of work and preparation into backstage prep work and a few minutes on the runway. A distinguished panel of judges is prepared for the hard work ahead to select this year’s winner from a very competitive pool of competitors.
Don’t miss a moment on September 8 all starting at 12:30 pm EST/9:30 am PST with our live streaming of the event that can be seen via this link
Demand for Supima cotton continues to be very strong with over 250,000 bales of export sales already committed for the year. This level was not reached until the mid-point of the previous crop year and is 321.3% of the sales level at the same point last year. To see the latest summary of the USDA export report use this link
