DENIM AT PV: Starts tomorrow!
By Greg Wang
PARIS—This time, they’ve got a new location: For its sixth edition, which runs June 2 and 3, Denim by Premiere Vision moves to Halle Freyssinet, a 13th arrondisement neighborhood best known for the staging of cutting-edge fashion shows.
A slew of Supima licensees and partners will be there, including Arvind, a first-time exhibitor.
The show is also sponsoring a Future Denim Designers Award. Six final-year students (pictured below) from London’s prestigious Central St. Martin’s College will display their different approaches to denim: Philip Patterson’s kimono-inspired jacket and pants; flamboyant color in Dominic Tsai’s design; exploded aspects of Gabriella Massey’s work; a celebration of heroes in Yunjoo Cho’s oversized creations; Nicolas Smith’s homage to utilitarian work clothes; and Adam Thomson’s single-seam jeans.
The jury judging their designs will be headed by none other than denim guru Adriano Goldschmied, and will also include luminaries like Giovanni Petrin, general manager of the Martelli Group and Nei Bell, sourcing director of Levi’s.
